It was interesting (and sometimes very surprising) for me as an active
roll producer to read all the comments on the subject.
For more than ten years I have been recutting music rolls for about
23 different systems. Until now, more than 2000 different titles have
been published and sold to many international customers. And the list
is still growing. For example:
Welte red rolls: 534 titles available
Welte green rolls: 51 titles available
Duo-Art: 50 titles available
Hupfeld Symphony Jazz: 100 titles available
Hupfeld Triphonola: 165 titles available
Hupfeld Animatic -S-: 160 titles available
Hupfeld Clavitist: 50 titles available
Hupfeld Helios: 100 titles available
Hupfeld Phonoliszt piano: 50 titles available
National Coin Piano: 24 titles available
Popper Orchestrion: 150 titles available
Weber Unika: 75 titles available
Weber Maesto: 12 titles available
Kuhl & Klatt piano: 25 titles available
Bacigalupo 45-key roll organ: 45 titles available
etc., etc.
Yes, I've sold several thousand rolls over the years, but regarding
the huge investments in developing a 100% accurate system, I have to
realize that there is almost no profit in recutting rolls. The idea of
building a roll cutter was to supply my customers with perfect working
rolls for their fresh restored instruments. Some collectors are
probably not aware the amount of work, time and money, that is needed
to make a high quality copy of an old roll.
So, if any collector is interested to start a recut project, just
contact me, I can recut any kind of roll in a short period of time.
