Thanks to John Tuttle's repeated reminders about the efficacy of
a tracker bar pump, I finally ordered one from QRS.
When I rebuilt my Dynavoice, I didn't like the idea of any more paper
bits getting into the pneumatics and placed filters in the control
tubing ahead of each pneumatic (82). Playing a lot of ancient
disintegrating rolls tended to clog up the filters rather fast, and
required a couple of hours to clean them all. Not too practical.
The Dynavoice has been sitting neglected the last couple of years while
I was putting all my attention on the Pianocorder and Mark Fontana's
new player program which, by-the-way, also has a piano roll display,
so you "can see the holes going over the tracker bar", if you so
desire. (See http://dp70.dyndns.org/pianocorder/wapc/)
All the posts of late about paper on the tracker bar vs. computer
programs playing the piano finally inspired me to tune up and
reassemble the Dynavoice and get it back onto the keyboard. Without
manually removing and cleaning all the filters, I was able to clear
them in short order with my new handy-dandy tracker bar pump. It
worked just like John says -- a real time saver!
Thanks, John, for your repeated admonitions. It finally sunk in
after three years. :o)
Hey! This is fun, playing rolls again!!
