We are examining a number of Bursens 88-note dance band rolls
with an eye to publishing a roll list and a complete Bursens spec.
Our starting point is the specification in Art Reblitz' book.
The following holes are listed as "blank": 6, 7, 8, 84, 85 and 87.
We have found rolls which use all of these holes (with 87 used rarely)
and wonder if anyone out there can provide enlightenment:
1. Are these holes used to control pipe registers?
2. What kind of pipes?
3. What pitch (unison, octave, sub-octave)?
4. What division (Bass, Accomp, Melody, Countermelody)?
We realize Bursens made a variety of instruments, so no instrument may
exist using all of these holes. Anyone with information, please post
to the Digest or reply to the author. If anyone has a Bursens in the
San Francisco Bay area and is willing to accept visitors, please
mention that also.
Thanks
