Selections Offered by Piano Roll Producers
By Spencer Chase
Greetings, Today we can collect original antique instruments and the
original music and can also operate these instruments electronically.
It is unreasonable to expect a supply of recuts which will satisfy the
wide range of musical taste. There is just not enough of a market.
Occasional favorites can be reissued if a system is developed that
makes it cost effective. These will not be available at low cost.
There is just too much work involved.
If you want to keep your instruments completely original and play only
paper rolls you may just have to accept the fact that you will never
have the variety of music that was available when the instruments were
new. This is a simple economic fact.
If you are interested in a large collection of music at reasonable cost
then an electronic interface is the answer. You don't have to wait for
a recut to be made. At worst, you need to borrow a copy of the roll
and have it converted to electronic format.
Best regards,
