Hi Paul, Thanks for writing to the MMD and airing your concern
about not being able to find out when chapter meetings are being held.
We're sorry that you had been unable to hook up with a local chapter;
they are all hospitable groups of people, looking to find new people
to share their love of automatic musical instruments.
It is sometimes a formidable task for the International Membership
Secretary to find a chapter for a new member; new members are sometimes
a few states or a country away from a chapter. Back in the good old
days the Bulletin did list the different chapters and the officers for
each chapter, although it did not list local chapter contacts. You
should have been able to contact any international officer to get
information on local chapter meetings because each officer was supposed
to receive notification of these meetings.
In the new and improved AMICA bulletin, local chapter officers are
listed with phone numbers and/or email addresses. You should be able
to contact any one of them to get on their mailing list. Another
option you have is to visit the AMICA web site, http://www.amica.org/
and see what is happening there. The web site is growing and changing,
so you may wish to stop back often.
Hope to see you soon at a meeting!
Best wishes,
Mike Walter
Vice President, AMICA International
