I've been asked to come up with an approximate value of a Louis XV
walnut art case Steinway OR grand piano (c.1927). It is excellent
unrestored condition. I tried to search the internet for information
and could only come up with inflated, after rebuild, prices. The
instrument in question shows no signs of any rebuild, just a little
retubing as needed at the tracker bar. I would appreciate an idea of
current unrestored value.
The case is in excellent condition, except for a small amount of damage
to the carving above the rear legs, and minor scuffing on the base side
lower molding. The ivories are in excellent condition, except for a
small amount of yellowing, some of which would probably wash off. The
sound board has no cracks or other damage that I can see. The strings
are still shiny. the player has not worked for approximately 10 years.
I did not try to run the motor because the pump bearing grease was
stiff and I did not want to cause any damage.
I do not have a site to post the pictures, but will gladly send
pictures to anyone wishing to view them.
