[ Re: 040627 MMDigest, Collection of 88-note Player Piano Rolls
Oh boy, Oh boy! I hope the person lucky enough to have the space and
the funds to buy all of Mr. Schubert's old Mel-O-Dee, Imperial and
Aeolian rolls will kindly have them digitized to MIDI files like
wonderful Terry Smythe is doing, or make them available for digitizing
as a few others are doing, or trying to do, so that everyone may enjoy
them and have them for posterity.
It's so wonderful, this digitizing. It's a miracle, and even though
I am deprived of the great, satisfying pleasure of pumping the rolls
myself, I'm still enjoying the midi files enormously. I really love
that player-piano sound, and my speakers, sound card, etc. make it
sound so real.
Maybe someone could invent a control box with joystick to attach to the
computer and operate the program, whether it be Cakewalk or another,
so that the listener could control the tempo and volume while the roll
file is being played. Wouldn't that be great!
