Hi Craig and all, I didn't see a listing in there for our museum
in Pennsylvania:
Bayernhoff Museum
225 St. Charles Place,
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15215
tel.: 1-412-782-4232.
It is a new museum, the collection of the late Charles Brown III,
a former customer of mine. It is run by the John Schnieder Loresh
Foundation. I have left North Carolina and my shop to become live-in
curator.
The house is almost 19,000 square feet and the draw is 50% house and
50% instruments. There is a 16-inch telescope on the roof with a Mt.
Palomar type observatory dome. The house was built starting in 1976
and ending with the addition of the observatory in 1982. There is also
a "cave", three secret passages in the house and a beautiful pool with
a waterfall.
There is a Seeburg Style R pipe organ orchestra (photoplayer), one
of four known to exist, a Wurlitzer 125, a Multiphone, a Double Mills
Violano, Regina changer, Hexaphone, Multiphone and many more pneumatic
instruments and music boxes and cylinder and disc phonographs. Once
you visit the museum, it will be hard to forget it.
Tours will be by appointment only for groups up to 12 people. There
will be a ticket charge but it hasn't been decided yet. We are in the
process of having brochures printed. The museum will be listed in the
new MBSI Directory.
The phone number is 412-782-4232 or 412-782-4231. Please remember the
time zones; no calls after 9 PM. You can contact me at my email
address below.
