"Castanets" Knob for Seeburg Orchestrions
By Don Teach

Recently while looking for things to do that I enjoy and consider
a challenge, I decided to make some knobs for Seeburg orchestrions.
I have a Hermes engraving machine and discovered a small problem.
Maybe someone out there can help.

Seeburg knobs vary from machine to machine -- these are the most
inconsistent part used by Seeburg. The knurling varies from straight
to angled, the type font is about the same on most knobs. The biggest
problem is how do you spell "Castinets" or "Castanets?" Seeburg used
both spellings. Which one would you use?

Don Teach - Shreveport Music Co.

[ My 1927 dictionary recognizes only castanet (Latin for chestnut)
[ and castanets. Seeburg's engraver was a lousy speller! -- Robbie
