Band Organs at Knott's Berry Farm
By jscott

I remember Knott's Berry Farm had quite a few band organs during my
childhood in the 1960's. The Wurlitzer 157 was removed after being on
the loft facing outside the Dentzel merry go round for nearly 20 years.
According to a friend the organ itself was removed and the front facade
repainted and used just for show.

A Wurlitzer 153 used to be inside the ride, but was removed years ago,
the manager saying it didn't play anymore. Back in the 1960s or early
'70s there was a beautiful large ornate organ that was a Gavioli or a
Ruth, with figurines playing bells dressed in fashion of the turn of
the last century with plume hats.

It may have to do with Bud Hurlbut who owned/designed the rides at the
park a long time ago. Does anyone have any info? Thanks.
