[ Both Ken Vinen and Jerry Bacon wrote that they have Universal
[ roll 98495 "Breezy Broadway Medley" and they provided the titles
[ of the unknown tunes, but Alan Mueller reported different
[ numbers in his 1915 catalog: 98492 (88-note), 101452 (65-note).
[ This confused me! -- Robbie
Hi Robbie, The roll number shown in the 1915 catalog for Breezy
Broadway, Medley Overture is, as I wrote, 98492. I sent you everything
just as it was printed in the catalog. The music publishers were
omitted. The actual title of the catalog is:
Catalog of Metrostyle-Themodist and Metro-Art Music Rolls
For The Pianola and Pianola Piano (88 - Note - 65)
July, 1915
The Aeolian Company, Aeolian Hall, New York.
The Metro-Art Music Rolls are at the rear of the catalog in a separate
200000 series. This is only eleven pages is length. By far the longest
list in this series is by Felix Arndt.
I just looked over a bunch of Aeolian Co. monthly bulletins from 1912
to 1917. The reason I believe Ken's Universal roll number and my
Metrostyle-Themodist number aren't the same is this price of the
Metrostyle roll was slightly more than the plain roll without the
accents (snake-bites). An example of this is from the September,
1912 supplement:
Adandy - Medley (6 tunes)
Metrostyle-Themodist (88-note) 99612 - $2.00
The same selection:
Plain Pianola (88-note) 996l5 - $1.75.
The same is true from a January, February, 1914 supplement:
Astunner - One Step Medley (6 tunes)
Metrostyle-Themodist 300878 (88-note) - $1.75
The same selection:
Plain Pianola (88-note) 300879 - $1.50.
Both are arranged rolls by Herman Avery Wade.
Incidentally, the Breezy Broadway Medley roll must be from early 1912.
Perhaps this clears things up for us all.
Regards,
Alan Mueller, Rochester, New York
