Dear Foxtail, I have been looking for two piano rolls and wonder if
these two songs were ever made into rolls. One is "The Babbitt and the
Bromide", by Gershwin, and the other is "Let's Not Talk About Love",
by Cole Porter. If you can help me out please e-mail. That would be
exciting news to know that the songs are out there somewhere.
Many thanks.

[ "A Babbitt met a Bromide on the avenue one day.
[ They held a conversation in their own peculiar way. ..."
[
[ Soon after Ira Gershwin's wonderfully silly lyrics were heard in
[ the 1927 Broadway musical "Funny Face", a new meaning of bromide
[ entered the English language. As implied in his song, a bromide is
[ a platitude or a commonplace remark, and also the person who utters
[ such, i.e., a bore!
[
[ Gershwin might have been inspired by the small talk he endured at
[ dinner parties, and the advice discretely offered guests who were
[ suffering from indigestion (maybe due to the boring conversation):
[ "Take a bromide." -- Robbie
