Hello Everyone. Between the 13th of May and 11th of June the
Kring van Draaiorgelvrienden (KDV) of the Netherlands celebrates
its 50th anniversary with the "Maand ban het draaiorgel" (Month
of the mechanical organ).
The festivities include many events, including a composition contest
for a mechanical organ, a photo contest, an organ-grinding contest for
the Dutch Parliament and the government, and of course, many events
where organs will play for your enjoyment. The most interesting and
full week for people attending the celebrations from abroad will be
between Sunday, 30th May, and 6th June.
A number of people, including myself are going from the USA to England
to join the tour "History in Harmony" (May 29 to June 6) which is
conducted by Linda Hardiman and Boz Oram. They are very experienced
in operating tours to such events as the KVD 50th Anniversary.
Their tour starts in London and travels to the continent on Saturday,
29th May, with special events planned for every day of the tour as well
as all of the major events which are planned for the KDV celebrations.
Many seats are already sold for the tour but there are still some
available. If you are thinking of attending the KDV festivities then
this is the way to see everything and in complete comfort. For more
information please contact <tours@historyinharmony.com>, attention
Linda Hardiman or Boz Oram.
I am sure our good friend, Dr. Hans van Oost, will have many more
updates for us as the time draws closer to the event. I hope to
see you in Holland.
