FS: Barrels for Faventia Street Piano
By Craig Smith

A couple weeks ago one of our readers was looking for barrels for
his Faventia barrel piano. Since I had one of these pianos and a
number of extra rolls [barrels], I contacted him and discussed a sale.
We listened to barrels over the phone and sent tune cards back and
forth.

He was interested in barrels with a Spanish flavor and I had four of
them. So, a deal was struck and I sent him the four rolls he selected.
A few days later I received a message starting with "I have good news
and bad news". Oh, I hate that!

Well, it never occurred to either of us to check the _exact_ dimensions
of the barrels, at least not past something like, "It's one of those
little pianos about a couple feet long, right?" Let's say there was
more enthusiasm and less caution then there should have been on both
our parts. So, as it turns out, the barrels I sent him (which are
about 16" long, without the end gear) are for a slightly larger piano
than the one he has.

After some two-way discussions and apologies, he decided to put them
on eBay rather than send them back, from California to New York, and
I gave him some suggestions about how to post them. But -- knowing
that MMD must have some more collectors who might have a Faventia
barrel piano in need of one or a couple of extra barrels -- I asked him
if I might mention the situation here and he agreed. He is planning to
start the auction for all four barrels on Thursday evening so you should
send him a message ASAP if you are interested. One of them has some
"popular" Spanish-sounding tunes including the favorite, "I've Been
Working on the Railroad". Go figure that one!

Contact him at <ReillyPas@aol.com.geentroep> (remove the ".geentroep")
