Locating Vacuum Leaks in a Player Piano
By Eric Stott

I'm trying to track down a leak in a three-deck single-valve Standard
Pneumatic player action. All the notes play, but rather weak overall
even with the electric pump _and_ the pedals going. I know that
there's a leak someplace in the lower action (it won't hold vacuum with
all the hoses removed and sealed) and the wind motor and auto tracker
are bad. It was rebuilt in the 1970's and the pneumatics still look
fairly good but I'm sure the valves and pouches weren't replaced.

Before I dig into this, does this type of Standard action have any
quirks I should be aware of?

By the way, I've checked out www.player-care.com -- a fine site.
