There's good news: the Welte in Disneyland is playing! I just went
a few weeks ago and that was the highlight of my day. We can thank
the MMDer responsible for this restoration. I was impressed with the
'touch screen' where you can select your favorite tune when you put
your coin in. Very nice! The Welte is right at home in the Arcade
on Main Street, with the 'Turn of the Century' ambiance.
It's nice to know there are public places where you can still hear
these instruments.

[ The Welte Cottage orchestrion was rebuilt in 1997, but not
[ restored, because Disneyland didn't want the vacuum pneumatic
[ system operational. The unused original parts are safely stored
[ inside the organ case, awaiting restoration by a future owner.
