Once again, with great sadness we report the loss of a friend and
in fact an icon of the Musical Box Society International. Marguerite
Fabel passed away Wednesday in hospital as a result of circulatory
complications. Last September, Marguerite had celebrated her 91st
birthday. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on April 12 at
Forest Hills Cemetery, 4414 Cleveland Ave. N.W., Canton, OH 44709.
Marguerite and her late husband Clarence were charter members of MBSI
and were very much instrumental in the growth of the Society. Their
unmatched devotion and service to the organization was evident through
the respect and admiration accorded both of them. Clarence served as
MBSI President in 1960-61. Marguerite was recipient of MBSI's Trustees
Award in 1977. She served as MBSI Corresponding Secretary for as long
as we can remember and held that position and was a Trustee Advisor at
the time of her passing.
To paraphrase the tribute given Marguerite by Frank Metzger in the MBSI
Golden Anniversary book, as a Founder, Corresponding Secretary, Trustee
Advisor and friend of anyone who loves automatic musical instruments,
she epitomized all that is good in our Society and all that is good
about mankind.
