I have a similar machine, though at present I don't remember the
serial number, mine was made in 1898.
As for when yours was manufactured, the best and easiest way is to turn
to the MBSI: Musical Box Society International. For a dollar (I think)
or two, they provide a replica of the manufacturer's certificate, with
the date and to whom the music box was originally shipped and the style
number (which will verify your beliefs).
Now for the value of the machine. The retail value of an 8" Regina
is around $1500, but currently they're fetching much less at auction.
How many were manufactured, I don't know if that data has been
crunched, although the MBSI has the complete set of info on the Regina
machines.
