Hi All, Just wanted to add a couple more facts to this thread.
The sale of player piano music rolls at Player-Care.com went from
$4562.00 in 1999 to $91,770.00 in 2003.
I had QRS send out 160 roll catalogs in 1999. In 2003, I had them
send out 680 roll catalogs.
In 1999, I bought $2,245 worth of supplies and technical materials
from APSCO, Schaff and PPCo which I sold via the Internet. In 2003,
I spent $9,649. In the first two months of 2004, I spent $3003.
I can also add that the number of player technicians who are listed
at Player-Care continues to increase. There are now over 160 listed
technicians. I can also add that the Player Piano Ring is still
growing as technicians open web sites about their business.
My point is simple. From where I sit, the popularity of the roll
playing piano has done nothing but increase since the advent of the
Internet. I also heard from a reliable source that Story & Clark will
start making roll-playing pianos again as soon as they can hammer out
an agreement with the Chinese.
