Kevin McElhone, well-known for his expertise and extensive knowledge
of mechanical music, has just brought out another book. This one is
simply called "Mechanical Music." However, the contents are far from
simple.
The little book is profusely illustrated with colour photos of a very
fair representation of the mechanical music spectrum, with illustrations
of some very rare instruments, from small automata through musical boxes,
player organs, pianos, nickelodeons, violin players and much else, all
the way up to grand orchestrions.
There is plenty of history and information with each photo and also
details of where many of the machines can be seen and heard. He also
lists musical societies, places to visit and a further reading section.
At =L=4.99 it doesn't break the bank and offers good value for money.
Kevin's email address is <kevin_mcelhone@hotmail.com>
Regards to all
