Second notice! A Welte 5' 11" grand piano is about to line a dumpster
unless claimed by someone. In Queens, New York, not far from LaGuardia,
sits a Welte grand piano, exactly where it has been since May 25, 1929
when it was delivered from the showroom in Manhattan where it was
purchased on May 11th of that same year.
The original owner is now in a nursing home and is about to celebrate
her 90th birthday. The piano still has the original factory dust cover
underneath. Everything is original. It has a mahogany finish and
comes with a matching bench. The bill of sale states that the piano
was built by Estey, but this information does not appear anywhere on
the piano itself.
All markings are simply "Welte Mignon". The piano's serial number is
71673. It is located in a private house on the first floor. The
family is asking $1,200 or best offer. So far there have been no
offers of any kind. The rolls have long since disappeared. The action
is stiff from lack of use and will need some work. The original
electrical cord is frayed and we were afraid to plug it in, even
without a roll. Contact me and I will put you in touch with the
seller.
