A local piano dealer here in Reno has acquired a plain case Steinway
Model O Duo-Art, probably vintage of the late 'teens. The Duo-Art part
appears to be all original, never rebuilt. He plans to restore the
piano, which needs refinishing, restringing, etc., and probably a new
soundboard. He doesn't find it profitable to spend the money restoring
the Duo-Art, as he couldn't add enough to the sale price to cover the
restoration cost. His solution, from a business position, is to remove
the Duo-Art parts and sell it as a straight piano. I'd hate to see the
Duo-Art removed, though I'd probably end up with the parts. He would be
willing to sell it as is for $3,500.
Is this a fair price, and is anyone interested?
