Hi all,
I'm working on a Steinway XR Duo-Art that was "Professionally Restored"
probably in the 80s. This included a heavy coat of white glue
everywhere and a fabric that I don't recognize for the pneumatics.
I'm slowly taking off the white glue, I've got it off the pneumatics
and mostly off the stacks, but now I'm left with another problem:
the decks of the stacks were most likely heavily sanded with a belt
sander and several of the channels have opened up slightly. I have a
few ideas of how to deal with this noting that it isn't critical as
they are open where I glue the pneumatics anyways so theoretically I
could leave them as is and still it would be a good seal.
I'd like to hear what others out there are using to fill in the cracks
from split, overly sanded or broken pieces.
Thanks for your suggestions. There will be more problems down the line,
especially when it comes time to put in the linkages :)
