FS: Estey Welte-Mignon Grand Piano in New York
By Vincent Morgan
I am in contact with a family that would like to sell their 6-foot
Welte Mignon grand piano. They have the original bill of sale (May
11, 1929) and delivery bill (May 25, 1929). The factory installed
dust cover under the piano is still in place. Everything is original.
The lady who owns it will be 99 on Feb. 23rd and has been moved to
a nursing home.
The bill of sale states that Estey made the piano, but this name
doesn't appear anywhere on the piano itself. The only name on the
piano is Welte Mignon. This is molded into the harp and is on the
decal on the sound board. The serial number is 71673.
The original electric cord is frayed so badly that I didn't try to
plug it in. There are no rolls other than a very deteriorated 88-note
roll in the spool box.
The piano is located in a private home in Jackson Heights, Queens,
New York City (near La Guardia Airport). The family is asking
$1,200 or best offer. If interested please contact me.
