It was announced in my local newspaper today that Turners Musical
Merry-Go-Round at Northampton, England, is to close at the end of July.
Apparently there have been 2.25 million visitors over the 20 years
that the venue has been open. Planning permission is awaited for
George Wimpey, house developers, who want to demolish the complex and
build 93 new homes on the site. (The article is not clear, but I assume
it includes the garden centre next door).
This further reduces the number of mechanical music venues in UK open
to the public.
