Some of the 128+ will play CD audio and some will not. It was a late
addition to the 128+ line. If it is an early serial number, in the past
I have sent the control box back to PianoDisc and they have done the
update for no charge. I tried to keep track of the serial number where
the change was made but usually couldn't find it when I needed it, so
now I try it and if it works, great, and if it doesn't I call PianoDisc
for a return material authorization (RMA) number and send it in.
One channel of the CD output drives the piano and the other is the
symphony accompaniment. I don't remember which is which, but if you
have them hooked up wrong the symphony will just sound like bleeps and
static. To check if everything is working, in the shop I have run the
music channel to powered speakers and the PianoDisc data channel to the
piano. Some portable CD players work and some don't have a strong
enough output to do the job. I use a Sony Discman as my service call
CD player and it does a good job for me.
