Mozart, The Algorithmic Composer
By Jan Kijlstra

As far as I know, Mozart never had anything to do with algorithms.
There was no need for it: a genius does not need a calculator to
produce the result of "1 + 1". And, in fact, simple dance tunes
can be considered as "1 + 1" for a guy like Mozart.

Robbie is pointing at the web site of Dr. David Cope. On that site
I did read that Dr. Cope has written an opera based on letters by
Mozart. Maybe that's the clue.

I'll try to find the book, "Experiments in Musical Intelligence",
to see what's actually up.

Jan Kijlstra

[ Maybe it was Dr. Cope who, many years ago, created ersatz Chopin
[ etudes by algorithm. The music critics said, "Yes, it sounds
[ like Chopin, but it lacks the master's inspiration!" -- Robbie
