Yamaha Disklavier DSR1 Digital Sequencer Recorder
By Don Teach

Yamaha makes a stand alone unit that plays MIDI files and all types of
Yamaha files. This product can be used with the older Disklaviers to
upgrade them to the later standards. It can play the diskettes with
the orchestral effects. View it at

There is a FAQ for information and can be ordered through most
Disklavier dealers. Yamaha has a new policy that dealers can only sell
in assigned areas. My area is only seven parishes ("counties" to those
outside of Louisiana) in the Northwest portion of Louisiana.

You can change Disklavier disc data to Pianomation disc data with
a conversion program from Giebler Enterprises. The problem with the
Pianomation and ConcertMaster systems is that they drop notes (don't
play). The Disklavier system has an internal sensor system constantly
monitoring the play back. It will play the softest notes and not miss
or drop them.
