Apparent Frequency Change & Psychoacoustics

Interesting!   Some years ago, I had a computer program that played
a pretty Bach tune using the Celeste effect (which I am very fond of).
When I edited the program to use separate right and left channels, the
Celeste effect completely disappeared!  I must hear the two slightly
different pitches in the same ear to get the effect.

Now I wonder what that tells about my brain, personality, modes of
thinking, etc.!
