To Whom It May Concern, My name is Ryan Todd. I am a Doctoral student
at Louisiana State University and I'm doing a research project on an
old piano roll that I've come across. I'm trying to trace its
background by getting any information available (such as what type of
paper it's made of, who's playing on the roll, perhaps who has owned
it).
The roll is a Gottschalk composition, "The Last Hope - A Religious
Meditation". The roll number is 8505 and there is another number,
A 24. I don't know what that one is. It was manufactured by The
Universal Music Co. USA and patented in the US on Dec. 4, 1906.
There is also something that looks like a serial number on the inside,
169972. The label on the outside of the box says that it was made
for The A. B. Chase Piano Co. in Norwalk, Ohio.
Any help that anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. If anyone
has any information that might be useful in my research, please respond
directly to me at rtodd1@lsu.edu. Thanks for your consideration.
