1917 Chickering Ampico Upright
By Tim Mattice

John: I have a 1917 Chickering upright, that has been in the family
since 1949. The player was discarded years ago and I just recently
bought, restored an Ampico action for it.

The quality of construction and tone of a Chickering is superb, in my
opinion. Although the quality of materials used by Ampico is pretty
sad, a lot of pot metal, the performance of the action is awesome if
it is thoroughly and properly restored and regulated. I am very happy
with mine. I don't think you will be disappointed with the purchase.
