Duo-Art Bass/Treble Split Point
By Bernt Damm

Hi all, We did discuss this topic in the past because I found the
split point to be one note wrong in my British Weber Duo-Art grand.
At the time we came to the conclusion that the split should be exactly
half 44/44 or 40/40. That is the way I found it in the upright pianos
I have worked on and I verified at least one to be sure.

In my grand piano I found that the bleed hole channel was hand carved
from the one half to the other in a rough fashion. It looked like the
factory made the mistake and put the divider in upside down (which would
result in one note shifting over) and then, instead of disassembling
everything to correct it, they carved a rough new channel for the bleed
to the wrong side as well. I did at the time correct this with knowledge
and discussions available then and made it 40/40. Not that anyone has
ever noticed a difference...

Perhaps other owners can check this again and we can come to a new
conclusion?

Kind regards,
Bernt Damm
