Ragtimer Johnny Maddox
By Dave Haibach

Greetings folks, About three years ago, a friend of mine was able
to contact him, only to find out that he lives not too far from me.
This was before his web site. The web site Robbie listed reflects
this information. While I have not been in contact with him myself
personally, it seems at the time he was only playing out in Colorado
two or three times a year, and was doing no other public performances
then. I also learned that he no longer had all his automatic music
instruments.

Johnny had a profound impact on my life as a youth and his albums
were among my earliest exposure to player pianos and rag time. His
"Crazy Otto" roll remains one of my favorites and even the new cuts
seem to remain true to his 1950's recording.

Regards,

Dave Haibach
