I have had success in this area. I often get many wrinkled 65-note
rolls. I figured out a way to do it but it is a lengthy process.
If there is an easier way, I'd like to know.
What you will need is a long table, newspaper or unwaxed craft paper,
an electric iron, and a fine mist spray bottle. Lay a heavy layer of
new paper on the table then unroll as much of the music roll as you
can get on the table.
Spray a mist of water over the roll that you have laid out so that
the paper is lightly dampened. Lay at least 3 thicknesses of new paper
over the music. Take the iron at a medium temperature setting and
carefully work it over the area, starting at the beginning of the roll,
moving in a slow circular motion to the end of what you have laid out,
until there are no rising vapors.
Unroll the next section, be sure it overlaps the previous a little.
Do the same process until you are through the whole roll. This works
very well with 65- and early 88-note rolls. I have not tried it on
later ones, though.
