My French friend, Douglas Heffer, advises, "Someone in France proposed
to me a Bechstein Welte-Mignon grand piano, foot-blown and electric
type, T-98 (the "Green"), with about 50 Welte rolls. Do you know
anyone dreaming about this?"
Using his sometime pidgin English (he is a transplanted Swede who
describes himself, after 25 years there, as "Frahnch"), he is indeed
the French guru for all things piano roll.
If there is interest from anyone, please contact him directly:
<douglas.heffer@freesbee.fr> He should be able to locate the party
and perhaps would agree to either act as intermediary or furnish
contact detail for the individual. Sounds like a most desirable
acquisition if you've both the dough and the room...
On a different subject: a reminder that I have plenty of copies of
the English translation (unfortunately no more of the book) "Namhafte
Pianisten im Aufnahmesalon Hupfeld" and if you already own it, and wish
to have a copy, just send me your name and address and I'll get one off
to you at no charge.
