John, I'm sure you are closer to the truth in discerning the meaning of
Sextrola than the person was who wrote the liner notes you mention. He
shows too little knowledge of language and far too little appreciation
of the advertising sensibilities of the age in which the Sextrola was
marketed. I wonder what he would make of people like me who are
sexagenarians? (Well, I was one but stopped being one last August.)
There is some pretty dreadful and inaccurate record-jacket prose out
there, written by people with too little knowledge of what they are
writing about and chiefly aimed at peddling the product.
