Dear Sir, Yes, I do know about Winterroth & Co. pianos. My name
is Mary Winterroth Pardo and my great-great-uncle, Emil Winterroth,
started the company in New York circa 1880. Between 1880 and 1920,
50,000 Winterroth and Company pianos were manufactured. The company
closed circa 1930 because of the Great Depression.
My own grandfather, Harry A. Winterroth, Sr., and his brother, Jack
(Jakob), were apprenticed there at the turn of the century. They were
third generation descendants of German immigrants who arrived in
America ca. 1840.
My research shows that these pianos were of the highest quality and are
well respected even today. My husband and I had acquired a Winterroth
piano in January (the first my family has owned in 70 years) and were
refurbishing it with loving care. It had the most beautiful sound.
Unfortunately, in March, our apartment building burned to the ground
with our piano in it. No lives were lost, thank God, but it's a
heartache. If you ever hear of another Winterroth and Co. piano,
please let me know. I would love to bring one home again.
Sincerely, Mary Winterroth Pardo
