Seek Pianola Repair Help, Gold Coast, Australia
By Jan Rider
My husband has acquired a Rudolf (New York) pianola, serial no. 84459,
and has embarked on a large restoration learning curve. We would like
to bounce ideas off a fellow collector that is living on the Gold Coast
in Australia. Brisbane is the nearest major city in our state of
Queensland; it is a one hour drive away from us.
Talking to an old-timer piano technician is just what we want to do.
I got the phone book out yesterday and there are several people in the
repair and restoration business that live nearby. However, the first
one we tried was unenthusiastic about sharing information; just wanted
$$$. That put me off trying another. I just want to talk to someone
that is full of information and willing to share.
I emailed Jill Miller when I was doing lots of "roll research". She
was extremely helpful.
Does anyone have information on the Rudolf Piano Company? All I can
find on the Internet states:
"A reliable piano produced by experienced piano makers under an
economical system in a successful endeavour, to offer to the trade
and the public a musical and durable piano at a reasonable price.
Not especially impressive to gaze upon but they sound beautiful,
stay in tune for years at a time, and are loud as hell."
Thanks
Jan Rider
