Dear friends, I just read a request dated 1997 from someone on "Where
do I begin" with fixing my Pianola. My Wertheim 88-key Pianola must be
having leaks somewhere. There is no speed control. The player works
but I have to pump furiously to get it going. There is no resistance
at all.
I only know how to put on a roll and pump away. I do know how to fix
a gramophone but I fear that, as a do-it-yourself man with no recourse
by way of manpower and advice, I find the initial start daunting.
Where do I begin? I have books and info but must know the part names
of my Pianola as only then can I explain to you what other things could
be at fault. My Pianola is Australian and terminology could be a
hindrance, though I know in principle all Pianolas are the same.
I got the idea that some part names of the Australian Pianolas are not
the same as with the American models (John Tuttle's web site). Can you
help me get going?
David
