FS: Duo-Art Roll Catalog by Charles Davis Smith
By Larry Norman

Hi all, Great news! While attending the AMICA convention in Portland,
Oregon, I stumbled on probably the last remaining unsold copies of the
1987 edition of Charles Davis Smith's book, "Catalog of DUO-ART Piano
Rolls", and since I have the outlet to market them to my music roll
customers around the world, it was only fitting and proper that I
purchased them all, so that they can become available to all those who
want a copy.

Personally, I had believed that they were all sold out a long time ago
and had been so thrilled to get my copy when I acquired my Steinway
Duo-Art piano. The book is an invaluable reference that I am always
referring to.

You don't even have to own a Duo-Art, or even a player piano, to
enjoy the valuable resource of information on pianists, Duo-Art rolls,
composers and song titles that this great volume holds. Everyone
should have a copy of this fantastic, great reference work in their
library.

Charles Davis Smith spent his lifetime in the pursuit of information
on these great pianists, and fantastic Music rolls. He also spent a
lot of time in the fruition of the book, "The Welte-Mignon -- It's
Music and Musician," (which is currently out of print), along with
Richard Howe who finally completed it. I personally think that Charles
was more interested in the history and information than he was in
listening to his roll collection. If you had the privilege of knowing
him, you could certainly get a wealth of knowledge from him.

The Duo-Art Catalog book is divided into four sections, by pianist,
composer or arranger, by number and by title, so it makes an excellent
source of finding the information you desire by any of these methods.
It also has a history of the Aeolian company, both in the USA and in
the UK, and other tidbits of enlightened facts. It is a treasured
wealth of information.

The good news is there are quite a few copies and I think most everyone
who is really serious about owning a copy will likely get one. The bad
news is there are not enough left to satisfy everyone in the world!
Eventually those who wait and are not so serious about getting their
copy are going to be very disappointed and unhappy and will not get
one, so please contact me very soon and get your order in for a copy.

The price is a mere $48.59 plus cost of shipping, and insurance,
anywhere in the world. Why not buy a couple of copies, one for your
library and one to sell later on eBay for an enormous profit? I have
seen the Obenchain Ampico book [rollography] sell for over $100.00 on
eBay. I have never seen a copy of the Duo-Art book on eBay.

Unless I am deluged with orders for all remaining copies, they will
also be offered at a discount for those who may want some for their
business or customers. Most boxes hold 16 copies of the book. Please
ask if you are interested in a quantity discount. It might even be
cheaper for overseas customers to get together and buy a few boxes,
than to order one book at a time.

In a few weeks, the trees should be in their splendid glory of fall
colors, why not come down for a visit and pick up your copy in person.
