Peter is possibly thinking of Arthur W. J. G. Ord-Hume who wrote
the original definitive book on player pianos back at the end
of the sixties: 'Player Piano'. This has been reissued since.
An alternative treatise which covers rebuilding in more detail,
particularly for American models, is Arthur Reblitz's 'Player Piano
Servicing and Rebuilding'. Both books are well worth having if you
are thinking of restoring pianos or organs. Are there any more
Arthurs out there?
