Apropos of nothing in particular, except my usual reading of the
MMDigest, I just wanted to say how lovely it's been to be part of
this group, even peripherally, since I'm not an engineer nor am I
a restorer. I just love mechanical music, and even when the subject
heading isn't likely to concern me either through my collection or
my experience with the music, I still learn something fascinating
from you all.
I still owe a special thanks to Julian Dyer in London for pointing me
in the direction of my Weber Pianola. I was feeling particularly down
about things in general yesterday and sat down to listen to a roll of
"Who". My Pianola's not perfect, but the music made me cry the 'good'
kind of tears, the kind that you get when something just reaches in and
touches you. And to have it actually playing -- I don't think it gets
better than that.
