To all MMD folks that use eBay. Information overload is now the norm
with computers. Look at any "home" page and there is just so much
information that a person can not take it all in quickly. A lot has
to do with the way the information is presented: designs by experienced
computer folks are more often than not very confusing or not understood
by the novice.
There is _absolutely_ no reason for any buyer to get ripped off on
a major purchase. Go to eBay, click on "Services", click on "Safe
Harbor", click on "Escrow Services". It is just that simple to protect
yourself.
The buyer places his money in "Escrow" and it does not get released
to the seller until the deal is found to be right. If there is a
conflict, both sides have a chance to make an explanation and work
things out. Most importantly, the cash stays put until all parties
are happy.
I would not use Escrow for small items, but for anything major it
is the best protection you and your cash can have, even better than
insurance -- a very important resource for those of us who live in
another country.
