New York Central Park Carousel Organ
By Dan Kjeldgaard

Friends and I spent Saturday in The Park, and my best friend made sure
that we rode the carousel! I was pleased to see that it isn't as
delicate as the Prospect Park carousel (me being a bit more than the
200 pound limit) and that the music was 'live' instead of through the
loudspeakers in evidence.

The organ could certainly use work, though: it missed some notes
entirely, didn't play the bass drum at all, missed most of the cymbal
and snare drum strikes, too -- and is in need of tuning. Still, the
ride was a great deal of fun and made us all happy. Amazing how such
a simple "machine" can give so much pleasure
