Band Organ Plays on America's Independence Day

For the second year in a row, a friend mounted my Raffin 31/84 crank
organ on the back of his beautifully restored 1928 Model A Form pickup
truck, and we were unit #42 in the Bath, Maine, July 4th parade, the
largest in the state.

I played my just-finished self-punched roll of my own march
composition, "Fighters of the Flames."  My monkey puppet on my left
hand was a big hit with the crowds; I don't know if they noticed the
music at all, but they cheered for the monkey!  My friend says they
probably noticed his truck about as much as Lady Godiva's horse.  But
several friends assured me the music came through loud and clear.

We had a great time and of course will do it again next year.  And
now that it's been mentioned, just cranking up the organ in my driveway
might not be such a bad idea, next year.
