Cutting Grooves for Organ Pipe Tuning Slide
By Nicholas Simons
The tuning slide slots in open organ pipes are simply made by rebating
a groove into the forward, inner edge of the pipe sides prior to
assembly. The depth of the rebate needs to be slightly more than the
thickness of the metal used for the slide so a slight bow in the slide
will cause it to run with some friction in the groove, to maintain
tuning and not move.
