Dear Mathew and fellow MMDers, I have been in contact with the people
at the Prospect Park Carousel and offered the services of the Lady
Liberty Chapter of AMICA. So far I have received a thanks and "we will
be in touch" e-mail. The Stinson Organ Co. offered to MIDI-ize the
organ so as to bypass the need for rolls. We are now waiting on them.
The Lady Liberty Chapter members just tuned the Empire State Carousel
organ, a wonderful Stinson, that has been out of service for several
years. That organ is now up and running. The unique carousel is in
the process of being assembled. The artwork is nearly finished.
Michael McNamara is the 15-year old interested in the organ. He is
sort of acting as a go-between with the owner. I am doing my best
to interest him in much more than the Prospect Park Carousel and am
waiting for calls from both him and the owner. AMICA, and especially
the Lady Liberty Chapter, has much to offer him and others like him
who live anywhere within our reach, which is eastern Pennsylvania to
central Connecticut and everything in between. One of our members is
looking for young apprentices to learn how to repair and restore pipe
organs. I will be more than happy to introduce Michael and anyone else
interested in mechanical music to people who build, collect, repair
and restore these instruments.
Vincent Morgan, New York City, and
President of the Lady Liberty Chapter of AMICA, Int.
