If I may introduce myself, I have been a member of the Player Piano
Group here in the UK for about three years since buying a Rogers Ampico
grand. I have recently bought piano No. 2, an upright Grunert with
Hupfeld player (both of my player pianos having been beautifully
restored for me by Reg. Richings at ReStore, London).
I notice Julian Dyer, our PPG Editor, mentions the Grunert in his list
'European Player Piano Makes & Player Actions' in 030609 MMDigest. My
question is this, can anyone tell me anything about Mr. Grunert and the
piano factory he had in Germany? There seems to be nothing about it
in the MMD or on the Internet (worldwide), and PPG members can tell me
nothing either -- a mystery -- so over to you!
Many thanks, and thank you MMD for such an interesting web site.

[ and at http://www.pianos.co.uk/info/pianos/g/grunert.php :
[
[ A. H. Grunert / Johanngeorgenstadt / Germany
[ Factory production began in 1897
[ In 1920 taken over by Hupfeld, Leipzig
[
[ If your piano was made after 1920, possibly the Grunert name was
[ applied to another fine piano built in a different Hupfeld factory
[ in another city (such as Gotha).
