The Mechanical Music Press web site at http://www.mechanicalmusicpress.com/
now includes the historical information from Terry Hathaway's previous
"Hathaway & Associates" (Hathaworld) site, which is closed.
Please visit us for detailed information on Wurlitzer, Seeburg,
Philipps, Hupfeld, Welte and other orchestrions, the Encore Banjo,
Banjorchestra and D.C. Ramey Banjo-Orchestra, an extensive rollography
for Wurlitzer/Philipps PianOrchestra rolls, and interesting articles
on collecting instruments in the past and present.
Contributors to the site include some of the world's leading experts
on orchestrions and other automatic instruments. We also includes
links to clubs and organizations, suppliers and restorers, sources
of recordings of these wonderful instruments, museums to visit, other
historical sites, and detailed information on my most recent book,
"The Golden Age of Automatic Musical Instruments."
We plan to continue expanding the site to include many more links,
historical and technical articles, and other interesting material
related to many types of automatic instruments. While there might be
some overlap, we will not focus on player pianos (which are already
covered extensively in John Tuttle's "Player-Care" site), nor on events
and activities (which are covered in MMD and in the bulletins of
collectors' groups such as AMICA, the Musical Box Society
International, and the other fine groups around the world).
We're currently updating our links. We invite you to visit the site,
and then contact me with any additional recommendations. Because there
are many other sites that already include links to "Mechanical Music
Press" and/or "Hathaworld," it will take time for us to organize all
the updates, but I'll try to respond to all messages within a few weeks
after I receive them.
