Ontario Beach Park Band Organ Is Too Loud
By Bill Finch
I'm a little surprised that the Stinson 165 band organ is too loud.
I've heard six Stinson 165 band organs (four in private hands and two
in commercial applications) and none of them were very loud compared,
for example, to equivalent Wurlitzer or Bruder organs. The older
organs were voiced loud to attract customers from a distance. The
[new] Stinson organs have an almost boutique sound compared to their
prototypes.
I suspect the employees who are complaining about the "noise" just
don't like band organ music. I am aware of a merchant in New York who
had problems with gangs hanging out in front of his store. Reasoning
and the police couldn't convince them to leave. The solution: the
merchant installed outside speakers and played classical music all
day long. The kids left post haste and never returned.
Perhaps Ontario Beach Park should hire band organ music fans.
